TRUTH VS LIES

“You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him.

Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me” (John 8:44-45)

In this passage , Jesus is obviously speaking to a specific group of unbelievers in this passage, but his words are crucial for all believers since we are constantly engaged in spiritual warfare (Eph 6:10-17).

The devil’s single most destructive weapon against us is lies, and he is all too thrilled to use a variety of messengers to deliver them. Sadly, his most active messenger in our lives is .. us! We constantly talk to ourselves about God, ourselves, and others, and the devil loves to fill our self-talk with half truths twisted together with verses taken out of context. Although we are constantly encouraged by the world to “trust our hearts” (A really bad idea – “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? : Jer 17:9), there is only one voice that is one hundred percent reliable.

Jesus always speaks the truth! His word is truth, No wonder that every first piece of armour Paul mentions in our fight against the devil is the “belt of truth”(Eph 6:14).

May God give us a passion to fight everyday for the freedom which comes by walking in the perfectly reliable truth of God’s word! “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciple of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free”

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:31-32.
